There's lots to digest. But, my first success today, I got my own version of the embedded "Hello World!" to work on my STK500 with an ATMEGA8515L. I also got the one of the ATMEGA128's from 2005 to work as well, which means that I can use it as a dev platform too!

In other news, our proposal is pretty much finalized, and looking very professional thanks to Greg's help. Hopefully I'll be able to round up enough cash to carry out the Sumo competition!

Anyhow, I'm off to learn more about the avr-libc so I can start getting sensors working. Nothing quite like hacking around for wasting the day away!

Status Update and New Sponsor!

The proposal is coming along nicely. Greg Glenn of the EAA has been helping me out with my style and layout, and I feel confident that the 2008-2009 proposal is better than any of my previous ones.

In other news, we landed a new sponsorship from Surveyor Corp (http://www.surveyor.com/), who makes the SRV-1 robot. I really like their product, I have an older SRV-1 and its a great platform to play with. Source code is open (big plus right there) and there is a large and supportive community. They were kind enough to donate leftover ARM7 board setups from the old SRV-1, which we'll be putting to good use this year.

Other than that, I'm still advancing in my C/C++ knowledge and learning how to develop on Atmel's AVR chips.

Stay tuned

--Andrew

New Year, New Proposal

I've started working on the 2008-2009 proposal. The purpose of this blog will be to document our design for future reference and so that everyone can see it. I know, I know, a Wiki would have been better, but I'm stretched so thin already that I don't think that will work. Things may change. The team will have access to this blog to post thoughts and so on.
